Cape Breton is a confusing place for Teddy McNeil. His senile grandmother thinks she’s being haunted by Sydney’s legendary “tar pond cat”, and his Sunday School teacher, Beth, has convinced herself that she’s the living dead. His cousin Debbie holds a secret that prompts her to steal, then discard, Teddy’s little cousin Junior.

Jeff Musgrave spent time in the Creative Writing Program at the University of British Columbia where he published fiction in periodicals like Grain, Queen Street Quarterly and subTerrain. His non-fiction and poetry credits include Wreck, Fugue, Uprooted and Crank, and he recently received Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council, and Toronto Arts Council grants to work on his first novel.
